2016 NSW Mid Amateur

Played from the 15th -17th May the NSW Mid Amateur event is open to the state’s best amateur golfers aged 30-54 with a GA handicap of less than 9.5 (for men). 128 golfers (104 men & 24 women) from as far away as Melbourne competed for the coveted titles. The men played 54 hole over 3 days and the women 36 holes over 2 days.

Mark Spraggs and his team had the course in pristine condition with our course providing a worthy challenge with the men’s champion the only player to have an overall score under par. In the men’s championship Logan Toms, who lives in Woolgooga but is a member at Moore Park, carded a 3 round total of 208, being 2 under par to win by 3 to Gavin Fitzgerald from Moruya Golf Club who finished 1 over par. Club Taree was represented by Matt Walz who finished a very credible 5th at 5 over par and Ben Maron who finished 18th.

In the women’s section Jan Crichton from Killara finished the 36 hole event with a total of 13 over par, 157 to win by 2 shots from Lucie Quilliam from Moore Park. Club Taree was well represented by Sally Geary (9th), Christine George (12th) and Cindy Googh (17th).
